That’s A Wrap! The Great Jones County Fair
I wouldn't be a very good "local boy" if I didn't cover my hometowns biggest summer attraction, the GREAT Jones County Fair. And that's what it was; great! Yes, I'm a Panther for life, raised in Monticello, IA and I wouldn't change a thing. In fact, my first concert ever (that I remember) was from the free hillside at the fair. It was Alabama, by the way. Needless to say once again I made the trip to the fair.
Free night is always fun for the kiddos. We took a go at the rides and enjoyed some of the AMAZING fair food (I mean, why else would you go). I didn't notice to much new in the way of food, but the classics were there, and deep fried Oreos were the highlight for sure. And it wouldn't be a trip to the fair if I didn't get my gyro or at least try one of the funnel cakes (most places now offer toppings to change up the flavor), and of course the biggest dang tenderloins anyone has every attempted to eat.
My wife and I wrapped up our days at the fair on Saturday night with an awesome show thanks to Uncle Kracker and replacement band 3 Doors Down (maybe these guys should've just been booked to start with, am I right rock fans?). The show was phenomenal, and thanks to my cousin Josh, the seats were just as good (thanks buddy, we had a blast). And finishing the night with fireworks, after a great show, is always icing on the cake. So it's 'til next year for now; because, what Monticello boy would miss the GREAT Jones County fair!?
