Dubuque County Alert Iowa Sign up

Dubuque County is set to begin using Alert Iowa, the state’s emergency notification system, to notify residents of severe weather and other emergencies. All county residents are asked to sign up now to receive these critical emergency alerts.
Signing up for Alert Iowa can be done by:
Creating an account at https://bit.ly/DubuqueAlerts.
Texting “DubuqueIA” to 672-83.
Downloading the Smart911 app from the Apple or Google Play stores. To learn more about Alert Iowa in Dubuque County, visit https://bit.ly/DubuqueAlerts. Additional information on the system is available at www.homelandsecurity.iowa.gov.

Veterans Freedom Center

The Veterans Freedom Center in Dubuque is open 10:00am to 3:00pm Saturdays. The Center is located at 2245 Kerper Blvd. The Veterans Freedom Center – serving honorably discharged veterans, active duty military and their families. http://www.veteransfreedomcenter.net/

Dubuque VA Clinic has the NEW COVID 19 Moderna Doses Available for Veterans. WALK-IN Times are Monday to Thursday from 1 pm to 3 pm. The Covid-19 boosters are ready to go; Please take advantage of this free shot for Veterans.

Hillcrest Family Services, based in Dubuque, and Unity Point Health – AbbeHealth Services, based in Cedar Rapids, are offering free brain health coaching sessions for adults and children of any age. The sessions can be scheduled now and will run until June 30. Funded by CARES Act grant monies, the free sessions are offered to residents in nine eastern Iowa counties:  Benton, Bremer, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Johnson, Jones and Linn counties. Caregiver Support Group for Caregivers of Dementia Patients/Family Members

24-Hour Care and Oak Park Place host a Caregiver Support group for caregivers taking care of Dementia Patients/family members conducted by trained facilitators. Join them virtually the last Friday of each month at 1:00pm. Contact Sara Kirkpatrick or Nicole Karberg for log in information.

Project Recovery Wisconsin.

Are you feeling stressed or anxious because of the pandemic?  Many farmers and farmworkers are experiencing the same feelings of exhaustion, irritability, anger, sleeplessness, and worry. Free, confidential support is available through Project Recovery Wisconsin. Call 833-FARM-HELP to connect with an outreach worker.

Friday, August 12th, Dubuque Main Street’s “Music on Main Street” concert will feature Chicago Reggae band Gizzae. The concert is free and is held under the Town Clock. Food and beverage sales start at 5p and the band plays from 6p to 9p.

Saturday, August 13

The Custom Riders’ annual “Roof 4 Vets” Benefit Ride will be held with departure from the Dubuque County Fairgrounds at 12p. Money raised will help Veterans with necessary home repairs. If you would like to donate an item for auction or raffle, contact custom.riders.inc@gmail.com

Ski Bellevue, Bellevue’s Water Ski Show Team will perform at 4p on the Mississippi River, south of Lock 12 in Bellevue.  Admission is always free. Donations are very much appreciated. View their season schedule at their Facebook Page.

Field of Dreams T-Ball & Catch:
Packs 13 & 60 are hosting a night of baseball on the original movie site of the Field of Dreams. The night will be filled with catch and a t-ball game! This is a great, free event to invite your friends to! Event will be held at Field of Dreams, 28995 Lansing Rd in Dyersville, IA from 6-8pm. Free to youth - Packs, there is a $50 fee to participate

Friday-Sunday, September 9th – 11th

Platteville Dairy Days events are going on all weekend long.  Friday showcases a flea market, amusement rides and beer tent. The parade down Main Street on Saturday morning is followed by a dairy cattle show at Legion Park.  Check out the arts and crafts fair and plenty of “fair food”! Evenings are filled with truck and tractor pulls, and live music.  Come back Sunday for the dairy goat show and music on the Main Stage.

American Scout Warrior: Cub-a-Ree: Join us to tackle some challenging obstacle courses and other physical games as you become the next American Scout Warrior. Activities include Archery, BB Guns, Bounce House, Discus Throw, Gaga Ball, Make Your Own Medal, Minefield, Obstacle Courses, Pool Noodle Javelin Throw, Semi, Tow Truck Close-up, Snack Station, Team Races, Web Wall, and Zombie Tag. 12-4:30pm at Swiss Valley Park, 13606 Swiss Valley Rd in  Peosta, IA.
Youth cost is $15 through September 21; $20 after September 21. No charge for adults.

Thursday, October 27

The 17th Annual Glimmer of Hope Fundraiser will be held Thursday, October 27 at the Dubuque Golf and Country Club, 1800 Randall Pl. All proceeds go to supporting the Dubuque Community Y’s Crisis Services Shelter – an eight-room, 20-bed shelter for those who are fleeing a life of domestic violence, human sex trafficking, or sexual assault.
