Hillcrest Family Services, based in Dubuque, and Unity Point Health – AbbeHealth Services, based in Cedar Rapids, are offering free brain health coaching sessions for adults and children of any age. The sessions can be scheduled now and will run until June 30. Funded by CARES Act grant monies, the free sessions are offered to residents in nine eastern Iowa counties:  Benton, Bremer, Buchanan, Delaware, Dubuque, Iowa, Johnson, Jones and Linn counties. Venture Into the Wild with Girl Scouts 

The Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois are partnering with Dubuque County Conservation, Dubuque County Hunter Safety Instructors, and Iowa DNR Conservation Officers to teach area girls outdoor survival skills. Dubuque Police Department ‘Shop with a Cop’ Program Donations

Donations are being accepted through August to support the annual Dubuque Police Department ‘Shop with a Cop’ program which purchases back-to-school clothing and supplies for area children. Donors can make checks out to Dubuque Police Protective Association and can be delivered to the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center at 770 Iowa Street. Caregiver Support Group for Caregivers of Dementia Patients/Family Members

24-Hour Care and Oak Park Place host a Caregiver Support group for caregivers taking care of Dementia Patients/family members conducted by trained facilitators. Join them virtually the last Friday of each month at 1:00pm. Contact Sara Kirkpatrick or Nicole Karberg for log in information.

Are you feeling stressed or anxious because of the pandemic?  Many farmers and farmworkers are experiencing the same feelings of exhaustion, irritability, anger, sleeplessness, and worry. The Farley Fire Department will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary during the annual family picnic and fireworks display. The day’s events will be held in downtown Farley and begin with a Parade at 11:00am with many family activities planned throughout the day.

After a more subdued Fourth of July celebration in 2020 due to the pandemic, staff at the Mathias Ham Historic Site are excited to bring back the long-running and popular Fourth of July Ice Cream Social at the Ham Site in its former glory on Sunday, July 4, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. This year will mark the 58th year for the event, which will include free tours of the Ham House; opportunities to experience and view additional buildings on the Ham Site grounds, including the recently restored one-room schoolhouse and Arriandeau log cabin; games, live music, homemade ice cream, craft activities, and reenactors firing canons; and the site’s newest exhibit Sew Many Quilts. The event is free to the public
