It Takes a Team Effort to Win Backpocket's Tuesday Night Trivia

When I was a young kid, my brothers and I would take the Farmer's Almanac or encyclopedia to find interesting facts in an attempt to stump one another with trivia. But, of course, this was long before the game of Trivia Pursuit or even Jeopardy's run as a popular TV quiz show.

It's funny to reflect on such antics today. But, of course, we would also record such events into a cassette audio recorder using our best game show host voices. If only those tapes were still around today!

Perhaps it was destiny that I now get to deliver the Rodeo Really Tough Trivia question every morning at 7:10 am on the Good Morning Rodeo. But I share this because it's no secret that people love trivia. I suppose it's a fun way to keep our minds sharp and test our memories. It's even more enjoyable when it's a team sport at the local pub or brewery.

A good friend has encouraged me to join the Tuesday Trivia Night at Backpocket in Dubuque's Millwork. I was happy to oblige and take part this week. The packed house demonstrated such events' popularity. Indeed there was a competitive spirit in the air for the four-round affair.

The trivia was a good mix of history and pop culture with some easy layups and a few tough shots. Our strategy was to work as a team to rely on each member's area of expertise from work and schooling, including healthcare, geography, history, and an overall appreciation for pop culture.

By the night's end, we had a few beers, shared lots of laughs, and won the night's top honors with the most correct answers. In addition, it was fun to take home the $35 gift card which is likely to be used on a future Trivia Night.
