Not too long ago we announced how you can register for the upcoming Dubuque JDIFF Halloween Parade. In fact, registration is now open for floats, bands, organizations, and more to get involved in our local event. It’s a great way to get started on the spooky festivities. That whole weekend, in fact, will be full of awesome events and activities to enjoy with family and friends. It’s the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival presents Boos & Brews; a Halloween Weekend extravaganza; featuring film screenings, vendors, a brewfest, parade, and more!

Get things started on Friday night (October 21st) with a late-night film in Washington Square Park. Then come back for a full day of spook-tacular fun on Saturday (October 22nd). Stop by the Five Flags Center for screenings of horror/thriller/scary genre short films throughout the day. Take stroll through Washington Park with the family to enjoy face painting, inflatables, a costume contest, a special effects make-up workshop, and loads more. Later that afternoon the Five Flags Arena becomes home to, "The Tappening"; you read that right, enjoy a brew-fest, along with the boo-fest, all before the big Halloween Parade, presented by JDIFF and Townsquare Media Dubuque. The parade theme for this year is Film. Theme your float, music, and costume to your favorite film and you could win! There will be first, second, and third place prizes given for Best Float and there will also have a prize for Best Film-Themed Music.

The parade will begin promptly at 7pm on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22 at Jackson Park and ends near Washington Park. Reminder, all materials, including candy will not be thrown from the street or floats; but, volunteers for their respective floats/organizations may hand-out materials/candy.
