The first annual Summer Flea Market, Antique, and Collectible Show is quickly approaching! The event is happening Sunday, August 21st at the Jones County Fairgrounds in Monticello, IA.

This marks the first year the show will be held in Monticello after 37 years at the Maquoketa Fairgrounds.

With expectations of over 100 exhibitors (indoor and outdoor, weather permitting) selling a wide array of antiques and vintage items, the Summer Flea Market, Antique, and Collectible Show is poised to be one of the biggest flea markets in the state of Iowa. It is already the largest in Eastern Iowa.

The event kicks off at 8:30am on August 21st. Admission is $3. Early bird shoppers are welcome to get an early start at 6:30am for an admission fee of $10 per person. For anyone nine and under, admission is free. The flea market is set to go on for seven hours, concluding at 3:30pm. Parking is also free.

In addition to antiques, nostalgic items, and sure-to-be-other great finds, food trucks will be on-site serving up deliciousness. Chuckies Tenderloins will be one of them, so come with an appetite for pork tenderloin!

I grew up immersed in flea market culture thanks to my grandfather. The highlights of my summers used to be spending four or five days at his house, and waking up at 6:30am on Sunday mornings to be one of the first in line at the flea market in Alsip, IL. My grandfather always rationalized the early wakeup so we could be the first to get a look at all the items, and then leave around 10:30am or 11am when the traffic would intensify.

Given the size and scope of this upcoming show, I'd suggest the same.

The Jones County Fairgrounds is located at 800 North Maple Street, on the far northeast side of Monticello. For more information on the Summer Flea Market, Antique, and Collectible Show, visit the event's Facebook page or contact Callahan Enterprises, LLC at 319-462-0135.

And also make note of the Fall Flea Market, Antique, and Collectible Show happening at the Jones County Fairgrounds on October 16th!
