Lightning-Related Dubuque County Fire Sunday Night

On June 20, 2021 at approximately 7:56 PM the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office and Centralia-Peosta Fire Department responded to 11175 Hidden Springs Ct, the Mess residence, for a structure fire. Mess reported seeing sparking after a reported lightning strike and then observed smoke and flames coming from their garage. Centralia-Peosta Fire Department was able to keep the fire contained to the single stall garage attached to the residence. Total damage is estimated at $10,000.
