Ernie Johnson Gives His Emmy to Stuart Scott’s Daughters in Ultimate Classy Move
TNT’s Ernie Johnson may have won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Studio Host on Tuesday, but he didn’t bring the trophy home with him.
In a classy gesture, Johnson accepted the award and then gave it to the daughters of the late Stuart Scott. Scott died in January at the 49 after a long battle with cancer.
Johnson summoned Scott’s daughters, Taelor and Sydni, up to the stage with him and said, “This is your Emmy.”
Scott’s daughters were on hand because there was dad was honored during the ceremony.
The move by Johnson, who won the Emmy for Inside the NBA, is par for the course, according to his colleague on the program, Charles Barkley. "We're never surprised by what Ernie does. We lost Stuart, but Ernie Johnson is the man."
