When it comes to supporting local non-profits, there might not be an easier and more impactful program than Kwik Care.

If you're not aware, Kwik Care has helped raise both funds and awareness for local nonprofits. Each month, Kwik Stop, Dairy Queen, and Fazoli's help collect donations for a different organization. Donations can be made easily by requesting your total purchase at any of those businesses (including at the gas pumps at Kwik Stop) be rounded up to the nearest dollar. The additional cents used to round up will be donated to the respective charity of the month.

October's Kwik Care recipient is Dubuque Regional Humane Society, a local organization dedicated to caring for and providing medicine to various different animals.

Development Director of the Dubuque Regional Humane Society Steve Manders and Kwik Care's Heather Hamm were kind enough to join me in studio to discuss all the work the Humane Society does in supporting animals. Manders noted that they are a no-kill facility, so they prioritize making sure our furry friends are healthy and welcomed into a safe home:

We tend to do whatever we can to help out not only our local [animals] but we also take transports in from ASPCA from areas that have been hard-hit. Most importantly, all the animals we do adopt out are spayed, neutered, and microchipped.

Manders spoke about what the money raised throughout the month will go towards, as all of it will impact the Dubuque Regional Humane Society directly:

The money we raise [....] will go to cover medical expenses, the spayed and neutered program, the microchipping that we do, and basically offset some of the expenses that are involved with adopting the animals.

From neutering to microchipping, these are things that directly contribute to an animals' overall health and wellbeing ahead of their adoption.

All month long, Kwik Stop, Dairy Queen, and Fazoli's will be taking donations that will go directly to the Dubuque Regional Humane Society via the aforementioned Kwik Care canisters at the counter or if customers request their purchase-total be rounded up to the nearest dollar (the difference going to Dubuque Regional Humane Society).

Consider donating your loose change or rounding up your total at Kwik Stop, Dairy Queen, and/or Fazoli's to donate to the Dubuque Regional Humane Society for the remainder of October.
