Looks like Ian Moller of Dubuque is trading the colors of Purple and Gold of LSU with the Red and Blue of the Texas Rangers.  Moller, a native of Dubuque and former graduate of Wahlert High School was drafted in the 4th round today in the Major League Baseball Draft.  Moller played his college baseball at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisana.

Depending on the ranking service you follow Moller was ranked as high as the 14th overall prospect and earned the #1 overall and #1 catcher ranking in the state of Iowa.

As the 103rd pick overall the six foot one catcher will try to complete his dream of playing in the major leagues.

The last Dubuque County baseball player to be drafted was Cascade, Iowa native Colin Rea who was drafted in the 12th round of the 2011 draft.  Rea, a pitcher,  made it to the big leagues with the San Diego Padres in 2015.  He pitched for several other major league teams including the Chicago Cubs.  He is currently playing in japan in with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball.
