Annual River Rodeo in Dubuque-Take 2
If you missed the 18th annual River Rodeo at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds Horse Arena back in May you're in luck. There's a 2nd rodeo this year and their calling it 18th Annual +1.
The rodeo committee has decided to move the rodeo from it's usual date in May to September each year, starting this year. That means you've got a second chance this year to see the stars of tomorrow, today (Or at least this weekend).
And before you say something silly about a high school rodeo, just remember 3- time Bareback World Champion Tim O'Connell from Zwingle, Iowa got his start at this rodeo. So you never know who you're gonna see this weekend.
Enjoy rodeo events Friday, Saturday and Saturday this weekend (Sept 23-25). And this time around there are 2 arenas of action so the competition is non-stop
The rodeo kicks off Friday night with Roping Jackpot at 6 pm followed by barrels at 8 pm. Saturday's events start at 10 am and Sunday has an early start at 9 am.
This weekend's rodeo will feature junior and high school kids competing in many of your favorite rodeo events including bareback, bulls, tie-down, poles and barrels, team roping, and goat roping.
No tickets are needed to attend the rodeo but they are requesting a goodwill donation at the gate. All proceeds will go towards future rodeo events for the kids.
The food stand will be open for supper on Friday night, breakfast lunch, and supper on Saturday and Breakfast and lunch on Sunday.
All events will be held rain or shine at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds Horse Arena, just west of the Fairgrounds on Old Highway 20.
