What do you get when you mix dogs and beer, two of the best things on the planet? You get a fun and involving contest going on now at Lena Brewing Company in Lena, IL!

You've got a little over a week left to enter your dog in Lena Brewing Company's "Canine Costume Contest." Through Friday, September 30th, LBC will be accepting photo submissions of dogs in their Halloween best! Each photo will be displayed on a jar in Lena Brewing's taproom, where customers can vote for which pup they think is best dressed!

How the voting works: simply drop money into the jar with the dog that you feel wears his or her costume the best! On top of being dazzled by dogs in some fun and hilarious costumes, Lena Brewing Company is using this as an opportunity to give back to a local humane society!

All funds collected for the "Canine Costume Contest" will be donated to Friends Forever Humane Society, making the event cyclical in helping animals get the food and care they need in lieu of finding their forever homes. Friends Forever is located in Freeport, IL.

The dog who has the most money in his/her jar will also receive a prize! Full disclosure too: Lena Brewing welcomes all the dogs into their establishment, so long as they're on a leash!

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
