Trump Returns to Iowa to Rally for Grassley & Reynolds

The 45th President of the United States is scheduled to land in Iowa for a campaign rally on Thursday, November 3.

Donald J. Trump is reportedly making the trip to campaign for the reelection of Governor Kim Reynolds and Senator Chuck Grassley.

The Sioux City event will be another signature Trump airport event that has become his modus operandi. The event will be at the Sioux Gateway Airport, with doors opening at 2 p.m. and Trump expected to address the crowd at 7 p.m.

A Des Moines Register poll from early October showed a close U.S. Senate race between Republican Chuck Grassley and Democrat challenger Admiral Michael Franken. The topline poll results showed Grassley leading by just three points and within the margin of error at 46% to 43%.

Chuck Grassley's polling below 50% this late in a campaign raises eyebrows from Des Moines to D.C. It also apparently caught the attention of Donald J. Trump, who is gassing up the plane and flying to rescue Grassley.

However, Franken deserves credit for putting up a good fight. Yet, it remains unlikely that he will defeat the longtime senator who hasn't so much stumbled in his reelection run.

Meanwhile, Governor Kim Reynolds appears to be coasting to reelection, with polls showing her a comfortable lead and polling well over 50% against her Democrat challenger Dierdre Dajear.

Barring any unforeseen embarrassing mistake or event, Trump's appearance likely does little more than fire up the Grassley and Reynolds base. There's little downside or risk of alienating many Iowa voters. Trump handily won Iowa by nearly 10 points, with 93 of 99 counties choosing Trump over Biden.

That leads to Trump's desire to return to Iowa for an appearance before an adoring crowd in friendly territory. Moreover, a lively rally for Grassley and Reynolds gives the former President an excellent excuse to address Iowa voters.

It mainly demonstrates Trump's loyalty to fellow republicans, and with Grassley and Reynolds primed to win on Tuesday, the former President will claim some credit for helping them get across the finish line.

Should Trump attempt to return to the White House in 2024, he'll be quick to lean on those he helped in 2022, with Grassley and Reynolds likely to comply.

At 89 years old, it's likely Grassley's final campaign, so he might as well dance to Trump's tune. Kim Reynolds may be angling and trying out for a VP nod in 2024, so campaigning with Trump makes perfect political sense.
