Tony Romo Plans to Retire From NFL – Career Turns to Broadcasting
It appears that Tony Romo's days as a QB in the NFL have come to an end, as the Cowboys great plans to retire.
According to sources at ESPN, Tony Romo has decided to hang it up and go into broadcasting.
The Dallas Cowboys planned on releasing Romo today (April 4, 2017) and many Texans fans had hoped he'd land there, but the most decorated passer in Cowboys history has decided to go a different direction with his life.
Romo has apparently been courted by many major networks, including NBC and Fox. With his charm and personality, I'm sure he'll make a great broadcaster.
With the Cowboys looking to cut some fat in spending, they planned to release Romo thus giving them $14 million in cap space.
While Dak Prescott did an amazing job for America's Team last year, replacing Romo is still a tough chore. Romo leaves the Cowboys as the most prolific QB in team history, passing for over 34,000 yards and 248 touchdowns.
The decision to leave football also affects other teams in the league, as both the Texans and Broncos had previously indicated interest in the aging star.
While he was the center of many jokes, typically by Cowboys fans, he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved the game.
This is an ongoing story and we'll continue to update it.
