At the start of 2016, rumors of a possible rerelease of the coveted Air Jordan 1 Retro "Banned" sneaker circled around the web. While nothing had been confirmed from the Jordan Brand since the rumors had started, sneakerheads can now rejoice thanks to Russell Westbrook and the Jumpman, who took to Twitter a few minutes ago to confirm the highly anticipated release.

Last Retroed in 2011, the "Banned" silhouette is regarded as one of the best kicks of all time from the Air Jordan line. sIn the video clip below Westbrook is seen holding in the 2011 "Banned" version of the Air Jordan 1, which will differ from this year's model. Dressed in the signature black and varsity red upper, this Air Jordan 1 features a white midsole which sits atop of a red bottom. While details and information on the 2016 release of this iteration have not been revealed by the Jordan Brand, look for Michael Jordan's company to release the rest of the details about the shoe within the weeks to come.
