Kate Bush, Eurythmics, Bon Jovi + More Nominated For 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
It's time to honor the legends of the music industry once more: The nominees for induction into the 2018 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame were announced early Thursday morning (October 5), and the candidates include an iconic new wave group, a soul queen and a metal band.
The nominees are Bon Jovi, Kate Bush, The Cars, Depeche Mode, Dire Straits, Eurythmics, J. Geils Band, Judas Priest, LL Cool J, MC5, The Meters, Moody Blues, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Link Wray and The Zombies.
Nine of the 19 nominees are nominated for the first time, including Eurythmics, Dire Straits, Judas Priest, Kate Bush, The Moody Blues, Nina Simone, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
According to an official press release from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, to be eligible, the artist/band must have released "its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of induction" (in this case, prior to 1992).
Fans will be able to vote for nominees online starting today through December 5, 2017.
Final inductees will be announced in December. The ceremony will be broadcast on HBO.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductions will be held at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio on April 14, 2018.
