Masks or Face Coverings Still Required in City of Dubuque and Dubuque County
You'll still need a mask or face covering in public places in Dubuque and Dubuque County despite Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds ending most statewide mandates.
Local officials say Reynolds’ announcement on Friday ending most statewide COVID-19 restrictions on Sunday, does not impact the City of Dubuque’s or Dubuque County’s mask mandates.
Both the City of Dubuque and the Dubuque County Public Health Incident Management Team issued statements that asserted both the city and county provisions will remain in effect even after the statewide mandates were lifted on Sunday.
Despite Governor Reynolds's lifting of masks, size of gathers, and restrictions on bars and restaurants, Dubuque leaders have seen cases and hospitalizations drop as a result of the mandates.
The Dubuque County Board Of Health met and voted 6-1 to continue the county's mandate set to expire March 1st, at sunset. The Board of Supervisors will meet to decide to extend it. No meeting date set.
Residents and visitors are also urged to continue 6 feet of social distancing in addition to the mask and or face covering. Frequent hand washing is also recommended.
