Learn. Enjoy. Escape. Carnegie-Stout Public Library
From books, e-books, and audiobooks; to movies, music, and more! The Carnegie-Stout Public Library is a beautiful Dubuque Landmark that provides the Dubuque community with resources for enjoyment, enlightenment, and knowledge.
I believe that your local library is most likely your most underutilized tool. Here’s why. Libraries are not just books! Sure, it is books, but it’s also; audio and video materials, digital magazines, online resources, research databases, go-pros, board games, and more.
The Carnegie Stout Public Library also provides you a chance to grow culturally, artistically, and musically. Every other weekend the after-hours First Friday’s events feature the work of local artists at Art at your library and original music by local and regional musicians in Music at your library. In addition to First Fridays the library hosts a number of great community events; meet authors, join a book club, attend a workshop, and a whole lot more.
One current event is the Earth Day Upcycled Art Show. Carnegie-Stout Public Library, Green Iowa AmeriCorps, and the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency, invite the public to turn their trash into art. The event is free and open to all ages, no registration required. One entry per person. Winners for different age categories will receive prizes. You can drop off Artworks at the Library’s second-floor reference desk now. Submitted pieces will be displayed in the first-floor program room from Thursday, April 21st, to Sunday, April 24th.
The old adage “knowledge is power” could not be truer today, and Dubuque provides us a pretty amazing place to learn, enjoy, and escape. Get lost in a book. Find a new passion at a workshop. Discover a new culture! Check out your local Carnegie-Stout Public Library today; you’ll be glad you did.
