The last few years have presented us with a significant amount of new information related to the disappearance of an Iowa news anchor. Now, she's the subject of a brand new docuseries that catches us all up to the present, where there are still desperately few answers.

Jodi Huisentruit was a 32-year-old news anchor that disappeared back in June 1995 in Mason City, IA. She disappeared in the early morning hours of June 27, 1995 after telling a colleague that she had overslept and was running late for work.

When Huisentruit still hadn't made it to work by 7am, Mason City Police were notified. Her vehicle was found at her apartment, along with a bent car key, her high heels, and evident signs of a struggle. To date, she is believed to have been abducted, but extensive investigations have failed to uncover any concrete evidence as to what happened or where her remains could be.

A New Docuseries Dives Deep Into the Case:

Today, on July 15th, Her Last Broadcast: The Abduction of Jodi Huisentruit, premiered on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+. It's a new, three-part docuseries; a collaborative production between ABC News Studios and Committee Films, the latter being the company that developed a 20/20 episode on Huisentruit back in 2022.

The Des Moines Register gave a sneak peek into the new docuseries by contextualizing its status as a "definitive look" at the case that's baffled countless across the country:

We were given exclusive access to new leads in the case by the Mason City Police Department — generated by a tip from our previous ABC 20/20 episode on Jodi. Even if you think you know everything there is to know about her case, you don't. This is a definitive look at the case, but also a moving tribute to Jodi, who brought joy to everyone she knew. - Committee Films' social media post on the series, per The Des Moines Register

Her Last Broadcast includes 20 new interviews from a barrage of people, including: Huisentruit's family, friends, and colleagues, as well as Iowa law enforcement officials. The Des Moines Register also added that the crew behind the series got access to KIMT-TV, where Huisentruit's desk still stands and "remains untouched."

The Latest Developments in the Jodi Huisentruit Case:

Back in February 2025, an Iowa private investigator asked a judge to unseal a potentially significant search warrant in relation to Huisentruit's disappearance now-30 years ago. Steve Ridge filed a motion in Cerro Gordo District Court asked to unseal a search warrant from 2017. The warrant was for vehicles belonging to John Vansice, a person-of-interest in the case, and his wife. Vansice died in December 2024. A portion of the warrant was unsealed in April.

After releasing a statement in regards to the aforementioned search warrant in March 2025, the family of Huisentruit released another statement on the 30th anniversary of her disappearance, on the website FindJodi.com:

It is hard to fully comprehend that it has now been 30 years since our dear Jodi was so senselessly taken from us: 30 years since we last saw her smile, heard her infectious laugh, or had a chance to hug her and tell her how much we love her. Our sincerest gratitude to all who have worked tirelessly on Jodi’s case and continue to do so, including law enforcement and FindJodi.com. We will never be able to say thank you enough, and we wholeheartedly appreciate your dedication to finding Jodi and solving her case - a statement from the Huisentruit family, per The Des Moines Register
