Wisconsin Fast Food Chain Taps Former Badger for First Ever Celebrity Meal
One of the most lovable NFL players of the last decade, who just so happens to be a Wisconsin native, is getting the first ever celebrity meal from a Wisconsin-based fast food chain, in a move that couldn't make more sense than if it were served up on a bright blue tray.
Former NFL defensive end and soon-to-be Hall of Famer J. J. Watt is the man behind Culver's new celebrity meal, the first of its kind. Celebrity meals have become extremely popular at McDonald's in particular, with everyone from Travi$ Scott to Saweetie getting their own meals at one point or another.
J. J. Watt's new Culver's meal is different because it has a local touch. Watt was born and raised in Pewaukee, WI, and admitted that growing up, he ate at the restaurant a lot with his friends and family. His new meal is fit for a king, or more accurately, an NFL defensive linemen. I'm not sure I could finish it in one sitting.
The meal, billed as "JJ's Way," consists of the following:
- A Culver's Deluxe
- Cheese curds
- Signature Culver's root beer
- A turtle sundae (made with chocolate custard)
The limited-time meal will be available from August 5th to September 29th, per The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Watt sounded like he couldn't be more ecstatic about the meal and the fact that he's the first to receive such an honor from Culver's:
I grew up going to Culver’s all the time, so ButterBurgers and Fresh Frozen Custard bring back a lot of great memories. It’s crazy to think about having my own meal at a place I’ve been visiting with my friends and family since I was a kid, and I can’t wait to share it with Culver’s guests from back home in Wisconsin to Texas to Arizona and everywhere in between. - J. J. Watt, per a press release from Culver's
In addition, Culver's will make a $1 donation to the J. J. Watt Foundation for every JJ's Way meal sold (up to $100,000) during its limited time on menus nationwide. The J. J. Watt Foundation helps fund after-school athletic programs for middle school children.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive linemen of all-time, Watt won the APL NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award three times in his first five seasons in the league. He's both a five-time Pro Bowler and First-team All-Pro, a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, and a two-time NFL sacks leader. He played for the Houston Texans for the first 10 seasons of his career, beginning in 2011, and finished his career with two seasons for the Arizona Cardinals.
