Busted! Police Dog Uncovers Major Drug Shipment in Iowa
That's not what you should put in your carry on!
Officials from the Des Moines Police Department shared a shockingly wild story on their social media platforms last week.
On Thursday, January 23rd law enforcement received an anonymous tip regarding a massive shipment of marijuana coming into the Des Moines International Airport.

Investigators immediately identified the luggage that had the supposed contraband inside, which had come from a plane arriving from Las Vegas.
Then the goodest boy on the force got to work.
The Des Moines Police Department called upon a Narcotics K9 named Blaise... kind of a perfect name for a dog with this job.
Blaise was on the hunt for some of the devil's lettuce.
It didn't take long for the furry officer to sniff out the drugs that were inside of the luggage. Blaise alerted the officers and the investigation kicked into high gear.
What Exactly Did Blaise Sniff Out?
Blaise didn't merely sniff out a tiny bit of marijuana, he discovered fifty pounds of the stuff!
A twenty-one year old named Tanitoluwa Arogundade was detained by the authorities after claiming the suspicious luggage. According to a report from the DMPD, the officers got a warrant to search this item, which lead to the discovery.
Arogundade was detained and is now facing two Class D felony charges.
These include Controlled Substance Violation and Failure To Affix A Drug Tax Stamp.
This is still an ongoing investigation that has been moved over to the DMPD Narcotics Control Section.

In a post shared to the DMPD, the entire department praised Blaise and other dogs like him for their work in furthering narcotics investigation cases.
"The exceptional abilities of our K9's enhances our day to day efficiency and effectiveness. In 2023, our K9 Unit played a vital role in many of the narcotics-related investigations in our city; investigations that led to the seizure of over 300 pounds of illegal drugs, valued at over $5,000,000."
I think Blaise deserves a few extra treats, right?
The DMPD Narcotics Control Section are continuing with this investigation.
