Will Illinois Experience a White Christmas in 2023?

This thought has been racing around my brain for the past few days now, "Is it going to snow on Christmas or what?"

Not sure why I am looking forward to the white stuff falling to the ground. Just like any other day of the year, driving around in the snow is not what I would consider a good time.

To me, a bit of snowfall on Christmas is the proverbial "icing on the cake" or in this case "icing on the Christmas cookie" for the holiday season.

Anyway, to answer my question regarding snowfall on Christmas, USA Today says "Thanks in part to El Niño, the chances may not be so good this year for many of us, based on some long-term forecasts for December."

Eh, that's not very encouraging, but I knew had one other source I could hit up. The dear Old Farmer's Almanac.

According to their December 25 forecast, it appears some of us in Illinois should expect some form of white Christmas in 2023.

Almanac.com says about the Lower Great Lakes, "There will be a white Christmas from New York westward to Wisconsin, but not south of I-90."

As for the Upper Midwest and Heartland regions of America: "There will be a white Christmas."

Does that mean we're for sure going to get snow on Christmas Day? Hard to say, and the worst part, I feel like my question still didn't get answered. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
