Dubuque to Florida Flights See Big Interest
With considerable fanfare, Avelo Airline announced earlier this year the start of nonstop passenger airline service between Dubuque and Orlando.
For a good reason, Avelo's coming to Dubuque Regional Airport was big news across Dubuque and eastern Iowa. It was enthusiastically welcomed after American Airlines decided to depart from Dubuque in September, citing a pilot shortage as the reason.
The Telegraph Herald reports that since Avelo's announcement, passengers are starting to book seats steadily, with at least 24% of its available flight tickets booked for the first four months.
Avelo Airlines sold 2,892 out of 12,096 available airline tickets for the first four months of its new flight service, according to The Telegraph Herald via the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce Air Service Task Force.
"We've seen great booking on the flight thus far. Our team is also working on implementing advertising and marketing opportunities in the Tri-State area," shared Avelo Communications Manager Courtney Goff.
Avelo Airlines is set to provide affordable, convenient, and reliable air travel between Florida to Dubuque and the tri-state area of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
Introductory one-way fares started at just $59, with two weekly flights scheduled for Wednesday and Saturday each week. The inaugural flight is scheduled for 4 pm, Wednesday, January 11, 2022.
The TH also reports Dubuque Regional Airport Director Todd Dalsing indicates a strong interest in early ticket sales. "We've heard a lot of excitement," he said. "There are a couple of flights in March that are full."
Dalsing said the ticket sales for November also came before any marketing efforts by the airline, the airport, or the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce.
So, watch for a concentrated promotional effort by Avelo, the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce, and the Dubuque Regional Airport in the coming days to amp up awareness of this fantastic affordable travel option to a fun and warm Florida destination.
Additionally, the direct flights to Florida mean there's virtually no chance of getting stranded at Chicago's O'Hare because of weather or other connection issues.
Nonetheless, Avelo Airlines is now Dubuque's only airline offering incredible value for Tri-State area travelers. Book your ticket today at AveloAir.com
