It’s National Cheese Curd Day, Thanks to This Wisconsin-Based Chain
Listen, I'm an Iowa guy through and through. I bleed black and gold, grew up on a hog farm, and enjoy sweet corn as much as the next person. However, few things are as good to enjoy as a golden fried cheese curd straight from badger-land. There are so many to enjoy out there, too. Whether you're at your favorite bar, restaurant, or food truck there is sure to be some take on that Wisconsin favorite, which also got its start in the land of cheese and beer, and it own national day, which just so happens to be today, October 15th.
National Cheese Curd Day celebrates the unique, squeaky little bites of cheddar goodness that make Wisconsin proud. Made from fresh, unaged, curdled milk, these snacks have a mild, salty flavor and a springy texture that squeaks delightfully with every bite. Anyway, while you can enjoy them fresh, the real indulgence comes when they’re deep-fried to golden perfection. Coat them in ranch and you have every Midwesterners first step towards a heart attack; a delicious, cheesy heart stopper that the whole family fights over. It's a snack that’s impossible to resist for most, and quite often an addiction for others.

This national food holiday was founded by Culver’s, the Wisconsin-based fast-casual chain, in 2015. Their mission was simple: celebrate the snackable treat that’s as iconic as the state itself. Whether you’re grabbing them as an appetizer, building a curd-inspired dish like poutine (the Canadians got something right), or just snacking on them at home, there’s a way for everyone to join the delicious fun.
So, whether you’re a lifelong cheese curd fan or trying them for the first time, today is the day to embrace that crispy, gooey, buttery bliss. Head to your local Culver’s (or really any restaurant in the Midwest), order a basket of fresh or fried Wisconsin cheese curds, and don’t forget to snap a photo and share it with #NationalCheeseCurdDay. Trust me; your taste buds will thank you... Your arteries... ehhh, that's future you's problem.
