Lucas St. Louis Named USHL Scholar Athlete of the Year, Powell All-Academic

According to a press release from the organization, the Dubuque Fighting Saints are proud to announce that defenseman Lucas St. Louis and forward Noah Powell  have both been named to the USHL All-Academic team, with Lucas St. Louis also winning the 2023 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

Academics have long been a success in Dubuque under JoAnne Gibson who has been with the team since 2010. Since the USHL began the All-Academic Team in 2016-17, the Fighting Saints have grabbed 15 of the 40 (37.5%) total academic team nominations, including having multiple players make the academic team for six consecutive years. No other team in the USHL has accomplished that feat once.

Lucas St. Louis becomes the fourth Fighting Saints to take home Scholar-Athlete of the Year over the last six seasons joining Connor Kurth (2020-21), Mason McCormick (2018-19), and Alex Steeves (2017-18). St. Louis is committed to Harvard University, while Powell is committed to attend Ohio State University.
