Farm Retailer In Platteville Suffers Total Loss In Fire- To Rebuild

According to a report from the Telegraph Herald and posts on the companies Facebook page, agricultural retailer Vondra Ag Service in Platteville, Wisconsin, faced a devastating fire on a Sunday morning, September 17th. Platteville Fire Chief Ryan Simmons reported that firefighters were dispatched to the scene around 8:50am after receiving reports of smoke emerging from the building. It took approximately 45 minutes for the fire to be brought under control, with the assistance of seven neighboring fire departments.

Remarkably, no individuals were inside the building at the time of the incident, and there were no injuries reported. Nevertheless, Chief Simmons classified the damage to the structure as a total loss, though an exact dollar estimate for the damage had yet to be determined.

Brady Vondra, the owner of Vondra Ag Service, described the substantial losses incurred due to the fire, including inventory, paperwork, computers, and furniture. The establishment primarily served local farmers, offering a range of agricultural products, including Beck's Hybrids seed, crop protection items, fertilizer, and more.

Despite the grim situation, Vondra affirmed his commitment to continue the business's operations. He intends to operate temporarily from an alternate location until the store can be rebuilt. It's noteworthy that Vondra Ag Service originally started from his family farm at 4996 Wisconsin 81 in 2016.

Vondra conveyed his determination to support the community, emphasizing their resilience and his commitment to rebuild the business even stronger than before. The incident, while devastating, has not dampened their spirit, and they are poised to persevere through this challenging and unfortunate event.
