Cher arrived at the shelter as a stray, and it was clear she had recently had a litter of puppies. Shelter staff believe she has likely had several litters throughout her life. Now, this sweet girl is ready for a home where she can finally relax and be cared for.

Cher absolutely loves people and will happily make friends with just about anyone she meets. She’s a total snuggle bug who prefers affection and attention over toys or treats.

While Cher adores humans, she does not seem to get along well with other dogs and would do best in a home where she can be the only pet.

Cher is also heartworm positive, which means she will be on a treatment plan for the foreseeable future. Because of this, she is currently looking for a foster-to-adopt home or a forever home through adoption. If you’re interested in giving Cher the loving home she deserves, you can reach out to the Dubuque Regional Humane Society.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.
