The Latest on the Julien Dubuque Bridge Closure
A major Tri-State bridge, which connects Dubuque, IA to East Dubuque, IL, is presently under construction and is resulting in significant delays for drivers.
The closure and corresponding construction work on the Julien Dubuque Bridge is due to repairs, including those to the deck joint, painting of the steel superstructure. In addition, work will be done to seal the bridge deck, repair railings, and replace the handrail along the adjacent pedestrian walkway, per our coverage of the closure upon its initial announcement.

The Latest on the Julien Dubuque Bridge Closure:
As is the case with road closures, plans can change on a whim. Construction is currently causing the eastbound lane to close during the day.
Per KCRG, construction on the Julien Dubuque Bridge will result in weekday closures in the morning until 3pm. The lane will be open to traffic from 3pm to 6pm to facilitate "rush hour" traffic, when most commuters are traveling home from work. Furthermore, the bridge will close again after 6pm for contractors to work in the evening.
Plans will obviously change due to weather conditions. Contractors are unable to work in rain, thunderstorms, or severe weather activity. The eastbound lane was also closed over the weekend.
