Svala Heller is from Iceland, where high school prom is simply not a thing. Having lived in America for decades, she longed for the experience of the glitz, glamour, and social ambiance that comes with a prom:
I’ve always wanted to go to a prom. Watching American TV and all that glamour that goes with it, and you know, for 14 years he’s been saying, 'Yeah, one day I will take you to prom' - Svala Heller, per KCRG
Williams knew how much his grandmother wanted to go to prom, so he made a promise when he was a toddler that he delivered this past week. He claims since he was looking forward to this moment since he was two-years-old.
Williams and Heller took photos together with a group of his friends before they attended the dance:
It’s so special. We have such a special bond. I’m just taking every, every inch in and just enjoying every moment - Svala Heller, per KCRG
Williams' best friend, Ruben Smith, accompanied the two to the dance as well, remarking about how special the entire event was and how he was privileged to be a part of it. Williams himself added that his grandmother has been there for him for his entire life, and for him not only to fulfill this promise but give her the experience of a lifetime is something beyond special for him.
