
Fields of Dreams in Dyersville Gets an Official Baseball Team
The Field of Dreams Movie Site in Dyersville, IA confirmed a partnership with the Northwoods League, which will bring a new, permanent baseball team to the ballpark to begin play in the 2027 season.
The Northwoods League is described as a collegiate summer, wooden-bat league boasting 26 baseball teams and six softball teams, mostly clustered in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. A bevy of MLB talent has come from the league, including Chris Sale, Max Scherzer, Ben Zobrist, and Nico Hoerner, to name a few.

A New Team Will Call the Field of Dreams Home:
The Dyersville team would play at the new 4,000-seat Field of Dreams Ballpark, which is set to open in June. It's already got a busy schedule of events, including a high school baseball series that month and another MLB at Field of Dreams Game. Consequently, Dyersville as a whole is seeing massive upgrades across the city in order to handle the imminent increase in traffic:

About the Northwoods League:

Per KWWL, the Northwoods League is the largest organized collegiate baseball league in history, and is now in its 32nd season. Per usual with minor league baseball, some of the names of teams and corresponding logos and insignias are terrific:
- Kenosha Kingfish
- Royal Oak Leprechauns
- Traverse City Pit Spitters
- Fond du Lac Dock Spiders
- Minnesota Mud Puppies
- Badlands Big Sticks
There's also the Waterloo Bucks, who play at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo. Dyersville will be the second team in the state of Iowa.

Furthermore, Dyersville is the second expansion team for the Northwoods League in 2027, with the other being Dune Coast in New Buffalo, MI. At this time, the team's name is not set, but fans are encourage to visit the Dyersville Northwoods League team's website to submit nominations.
