
Back-to-Back! Eastern Iowa Winery Earns Another Governor’s Cup
An Eastern Iowa winery has become the first to ever win back-to-back Governor's Cups at the 2026 Iowa State Fair Commercial Wine Competition.
Back-To-Back Wins for Eastern Iowa Winery
The Corridor Business Journal reports that Fireside Winery took home the top honor this year when its Fizzy Firefly won the Governor's Cup. In 2025, Fireside also won the top honor for its Blu wine. The back-to-back wins are unprecedented in the Iowa wine industry, according to the CBJ.
Fizzy Firefly was selected the winner from 156 wines entered by 24 Iowa wineries, according to the CBJ. It was named Best in Show Specialty Grape before being chosen as overall Governor's Cup winner and recognized as the best wine in Iowa!

Fireside Winery earned 14 medals at this year's competition, including four gold medals and the Governor's Cup, according to the CBJ. Winemaker Zach Bott stated, "We’re proud of our team and grateful to everyone who continues to support Iowa-grown and Iowa-made wines."
Where Can I Taste the Award-Winning Wines?
Fireside Winery is located at 1755 P Ave. in Marengo and also has a tasting room in the Amana Colonies. The CBJ also reports that fairgoers at the Iowa State Fair will have the chance to sample the winning wine too! Fizzy Firefly has been named this year's official wine of the Iowa State Fair. It will be available to sample along with the other award-winning wines at the Grandfather's Barn/Iowa Wine Experience, according to the CBJ.
