Is It Legal To Own A Monkey In Minnesota, Iowa, Or South Dakota?
Have you ever even thought it might be cool to have a pet Monkey in Minnesota, Iowa, or South Dakota? Well...I have. But is it against the law?
I have always enjoyed watching monkeys on TV, in the movies, and YouTube videos.
I realize there would be real learning curve when it comes to caring for a primate.
According to The Spruce Pets...”they are, in essence, permanent toddlers.
Pet monkeys also might not take well to new people in your life, including spouses and children, and they make it hard to get away for vacations.
Plus, finding a new home for a pet monkey is extremely difficult and psychologically hard on the monkey.”
But lets say you want to take the plunge and commit to becoming a monkey parent...is it even legal in Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota?
Wisevoter.com points out that...”The legality of owning a pet monkey in the United States is determined by individual state laws.
While some states allow private ownership of monkeys as pets, others have enacted strict regulations or outright bans due to concerns related to public safety, animal welfare, and the potential for the spread of diseases.”
In short IS IT LEGAL TO OWN A MONKEY IN...
