Cat lovers, show us your kitties! It is officially Ginger Cat Appreciation Day. Ginger cats, often known as marmalade cats or tiger cats, are orange tabby cats. Tabby cat coats have striped, marbled, or spotted markings. They usually have an "M-shaped" marking on their forehead. Ginger cats are generally male, whether domestic or wild, and come in shades of orange, gold, and red.

If you or someone you know has a ginger cat, today is the day to show your furry friend a little extra love and attention! I see a new toy or treat in their future. If you really want to go above and beyond today, stop by The Humane Society and give a loving home to a kitty in need!

Do you have a ginger cat? Send us photos. We'd love to see them! For an added bonus, I have included a picture of Chris Farber's little pal, Rico. How cute!

LOOK: Here are the pets banned in each state

Read on to see which pets are banned in your home state, as well as across the nation.
