Anticipation is off the charts for Grand Theft Auto VI, the long-awaited follow-up to Grand Theft Auto V, one of the best-selling video games of all-time. The game's trailer, which dropped nine months ago, has amassed over 200 million views, and if you're like me, you're just hoping the Q3/Q4 2025 release date doesn't get pushed back.

Even if the late 2025 release date does hold up, that still gives us over a year to speculate and predict what Grand Theft Auto VI will be. The game's trailer gave us the appropriate tease of various new elements embedded in the game. However, this is a fervent fanbase that channels their creativity in unique ways. That's exactly what the folks at GTA Boom did with their latest project...

Using Metajourney, an AI image-generator, GTA Boom created GTA-inspired characters for each of the 50 states. For each state, they created one male and one female character. Of course, I immediately had to look at what they came up with for their Iowa characters. The result... is believable, if a little generic, I'll say.

Let's start with the unnamed male character:

This guy is a real beaut, as you can tell. At first blush, he doesn't look very Iowan. More like part-SoCal, part-MS-13. The flannel gives a hint of Midwestern ethos, but his heavily tatted, tanned skin gives the impression he splits time between the tattoo parlor and the farm.

This AI-generation isn't the best, I'll say, in terms of accuracy. I'd say lose the flannel for a wife-beater, a backwards hat, and a bushy beard, and then we'd be getting somewhere.

Now let's look at the unnamed female character:

Is it just me, or does she facially resemble Caitlin Clark? Maybe I'm seeing things, but her eyes and hair remind me of Clark. Of course she's bikini-clad, for this is GTA after all. She looks remarkably plain for a GTA character, which I suppose suits Iowa's "ordinary" reputation. You'd think she'd be a touch paler being in Iowa, but I suppose living in a bikini leads you to catching a lot of sun.

If I had to decide which one is more accurate, I'd have to go with the female, if for no other reason than she reminded me of Caitlin Clark. At the moment, you can't get more Iowa than that.

Lastly, analyzing both of these character concepts made me wonder what Grand Theft Auto game would look like in Iowa. Remember Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, driving through Red County, or Grand Theft Auto V, cruising on the outskirts on the map? My guess is it would look a lot like that: a plethora of farm land, cornfields, and smallish cities that house a lot of cutesy Easter eggs and points of discovery.
