First ‘Deadpool 2’ Poster Brings Everyone Together for Thanksgiving
When you gather ’round the table to shove turkey into your face with friends and loved ones, what will you give thanks for? Your career, your relationships, just being alive, or maybe the fact that a wild R-rated superhero movie starring Ryan Reynolds as a mouthy mercenary became such a massive hit that we’re actually getting a sequel. (Don’t say that. Your mom will be pissed.) In keeping with the Thanksgiving holiday spirit, the first poster for Deadpool 2 has arrived, and it’s fully prepped for turkey time.
20th Century Fox has debuted the first poster for Deadpool 2, which evokes Norman Rockwell’s iconic Thanksgiving painting, ‘Freedom From Want.’ That painting has been satirized many, many times in pop culture, and since the Merc With a Mouth has proven himself fond of participating in holiday fun, it’s a fitting tribute for the sequel’s first poster.
The image features Reynolds’ Wade Wilson / Deadpool presenting the turkey at the head of the table, with Josh Brolin’s Cable right behind him. Their guests include Atlanta’s Zazie Beetz as Domino, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, T.J. Miller as Weasel, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggam as Blind Al, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, and Karan Soni as Dopinder. And because this is a Marvel enterprise, there’s even a Stan Lee cameo hanging out in the background.
Deadpool 2 is directed by David Leitch (Atomic Blonde) and scripted by original Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and hits theaters on June 1, 2018.
