The City of Dubuque and the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency (DMASWA) are co-sponsoring a household hazardous waste (HHW) collection. Materials will be accepted by appointment from Dubuque County residents.  The event will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019, rain or shine, from 8 a.m. to noon at Murphy Park, Dubuque, Iowa.  Residents can register for this event at  Businesses are not permitted to participate.

Acceptable Items Include:

Household cleaners

Motor Oil/Oil Filters

Old Gasoline

Residential Fertilizers/Pesticides

Aerosol Cans


Household Fluorescent Bulbs


Mercury Bulbs

Halogen Bulbs

Sharps (In Rigid, Sealed Containers)

Rechargeable batteries

Ink/Toner cartridges

Oil Based Paint

Latex Paint


Materials Not Accepted

Farm Chemicals

Business Chemicals/Waste


Diethyl Ether

Residents interested in participating should go to  or call 563-557-8220 ext. 2 to make an appointment by Friday, September 6th. Items will not be accepted from schools, businesses, farms, non-profits, or governmental entities.  Containers will not be returned to the resident and any container larger the 5-gallons will not be accepted during this event.
