Dame Dash is disappointed with his cousin Stacey Dash's recent comments about Black History Month. The rap mogul participated in an interview with author and social commentator Dr. Boyce Watkins for his Your Black World podcast, giving his thoughts on his cousin's controversial statements, which also included BET and segregation.

"She didn't have to say it there or like that or get paid to say it," Dame Dash said. "I would've preferred her, if she had that opinion, to say it on BET or have a conversation with someone black saying that and let someone black have a conversation back with her as opposed to some white man nodding his head. I think it was the way it happened. But it was a job. I think that's her job right now to invoke emotion on that platform by saying things that are gonna stimulate the conversation. But either way, she's my cousin."

He also referred to her statements as "annoying" and revealed that "it really isn't the best thing to hear Dash associated with cooning."

If you missed it, Stacey Dash had the following to say during an appearance on the Fox News program Fox & Friends.

“We have to make up our minds. Either we want to have segregation or integration,” Stacey Dash said. “And if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like B.E.T. and the BET Awards and the Image Awards where you’re only awarded if you’re black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.” Her initial opinion was sure to get a reaction out people, but it was her next statement, that would prove to be the last straw. “There shouldn’t be a Black History Month. You know? We’re Americans. Period. That’s it.”
