Adam’s Army Embodies the Bravery of St. Jude Patients
Every year, our sister station WKBR creates an original song and shares an incredible story of a St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital patient as a part of their radiothon efforts. This year, that patient is Adam.
Adam is a brave young man who is currently in the middle of a two-and-a-half year treatment for Leukemia at St. Jude, and despite all of the hardships, he hasn't let his illness get him down or hold him back.
Adam has adopted the motto "Make every day count." With that mentality in mind, he assembled "Adam's Army" with the goal to raise one million dollars for the children receiving treatment at St. Jude. Because of Adam's determination to make a difference while courageously fighting a battle of his own, WKBR dedicated their annual anthem to him and appropriately titled it "Brave."
"I will be strong / I will be brave / When my will bends and cracks / And buildings collapse from a tidal wave / I'll plant my feet and I'll stand and I'll say / I'll fight gallantly day after day / And triumphantly my flag will wave / I will be brave."
On March 3 and 4, Taste of Country will join 15 Townsquare Media stations in support of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This two-day web and radiothon aims to raise money and awareness for the world class research and treatment facility in Memphis, Tenn. Now in its third year, this collaborative effort has raised nearly $2.5 million. Country radio has helped raise more than $550 million during 26 years worth of Country Cares radiothons. The mission is simple: raise money, save lives.
