Illinois Petition Started Against New Chicago Bears Stadium
The opposition has started their campaign against the new Chicago Bears stadium being built on the city's lakefront.
Petition Against New Bears Stadium
The condition of Soldier Field, the home of the Chicago Bears, is inadequate for the players and fans. I know firsthand because my family has owned season tickets since 1982. The original stadium was old and definitively needed the upgrade it got several years ago.

The renovated Soldier Field was pretty nice when it first opened, especially compared to the rundown version. Unfortunately, the stadium was outdated before the ink was even dry. The Bears have been in desperate need of a new building and deal for a long time.
Over the last couple of years, the team has been talking about building a new stadium. One that they actually own and can earn revenue off of. A dome stadium that could host major events all year round and generate some serious money.
The team even bought the former Arlington Racetrack. They butted heads with the city government about taxes so the family left that on the table for now. Their focus is now on a new stadium on the Chicago lakefront. It would basically be built where the south lot is.
The team thought this was going to be a slam dunk. They are so confident that many of the interviews, news articles, and explanations are very confusing. The deal is not even close to being done because a giant brick wall is in their way. That is the Friends of The Parks. Their one job is to keep the Chicago lakefront free and clear on any buildings.
I've been waiting for them to take action, especially on how the Bears have been acting during this whole ordeal. This group stopped George Locus, yes the Star Wars guy, from building his museum in the same spot. He has a lot for power and money than the football team. Well, now the Friends of The Parks have started a petition against the new stadium and this is just the beginning. It'll be interesting to watch.
