Traffic has been reduced on a stretch of highway in Grant County due to a "load spillage."

Grant County Sheriff's Department officials wrote in an online announcement.

U.S. 151 has been reduced to one lane of traffic in the southbound lanes from Mile Marker 1 to the Dubuque-Wisconsin bridge "for the next few hours due to a load spillage,"

Northbound lanes will be reduced to one lane of traffic after southbound lanes are cleared.

The release also said:

"It is possible that all southbound lanes may be closed for times during the clean-up," the announcement states. "We suggest taking an alternative route.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is handling the traffic situation.
