U.S. Marshals Most Wanted Illinois Criminals on the Run Now
The U.S. Marshals Service has been one of the most important federal law enforcement agencies since 1789. They are tasked with apprehending fugitives, protecting federal courts, and enforcing the law. One of the most vital units in this effort is the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force, or GLRFTF, which operates out of the Northern District of Illinois. This task force brings together federal, state, and local agencies to track and capture violent criminals across Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. Currently there are no fugitives listed for the Central or Southern districts of Illinois.
Each month, the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force arrests over 500 violent offenders, with a focus on crimes such as murder, sexual assault, child pornography, robbery, and aggravated assault. In 2005 alone, more than 6,000 fugitives were taken into custody by this special U.S. Marshal led task force.
