Starr Shines Light on Dubuque Fighting Saints Upcoming 24/25 Season
With a new season on the horizon, excitement is building for the Dubuque Fighting Saints. At the heart of the action is Josh Starr, the energetic broadcaster who brings the games to life for fans. His journey to Dubuque has been marked by a passion and dedication to hockey and sports broadcasting.
Josh Starr joined the Saints after stints with the Philadelphia Rebels and Danbury Hat Tricks. A Penn State alum, Starr has been honing his craft since college, where he was deeply involved in sports media. His background and enthusiasm made him the perfect fit for the Fighting Saints and our broadcast team.

New Beginnings for the Saints
In a recent chat, Starr shared his excitement for the new season. The Saints are in a period of transition, with Evan Dixon stepping in as the new head coach and fresh faces like Jacob Semik and Rory Dineen joining the coaching staff. "It's an exciting time with all the new energy," Starr said, looking forward to what the team can achieve. https://youtu.be/HYe65cymy38?si=z3E5XtCJjy9Wa4lc The Saints are also celebrating their 15th anniversary, with special events and moments planned throughout the season. "It's going to be a fun year looking back at our history," Starr said.
The excitement extends beyond the coaching staff to the players as well. The Saints have been active in the offseason, with 9 players being drafted into the NHL and others participating in prestigious tournaments like the World Junior Summer Showcase. "It's really cool to see our players wearing NHL gear and showcasing their skills at such a high level," Starr remarked, highlighting the development and potential of the Saints' roster.
Looking ahead, Starr emphasized the importance of both the regular season and the playoffs. "There's a big sense of unfinished business in the locker room," he said, referring to the team's strong performance last season and the high expectations for the year ahead. With the first preseason game scheduled for September 6th against the RoughRiders, the excitement is palpable.
As the season opener against the Tri-City Storm approaches on September 27th, fans are encouraged to get their tickets early. Whether you're a long-time supporter or new to the team, Starr's commentary will keep you engaged and informed, whether it's the in-game broadcast or interviews with me, all season long on Eagle 102.3.
