Judas Priest’s Ian Hill Talks Invincible Shield Tour in Cedar Rapids & Remastered Rocka Rolla Album
Calling all metalheads! The legendary Judas Priest is heading to Cedar Rapids on Saturday, September 21st, as part of their "Invincible Shield" tour, and it's going to be a night you won’t want to miss. The metal icons are set to shake the Alliant Energy PowerHouse with their electrifying stage presence and timeless hits.
If you know anything about Judas Priest, you know they’ve been rocking the metal scene since 1969, with classics like "Breaking the Law," "Painkiller," and "You’ve Got Another Thing Comin'." The band's frontman, Rob Halford, still commands the stage with his signature swagger, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down.
What’s even cooler? Joining the Priest on this tour is the Swedish power metal band Sabaton, who will open the night with their own brand of high-energy anthems.
The “Invincible Shield” tour has everything you could hope for from a Judas Priest show: thunderous guitar riffs, epic drum solos, and of course, Halford’s legendary entrance on his Harley-Davidson. Expect a mix of the band’s iconic hits along with fresh new tracks from their latest album, which dropped earlier this year. Fans can also look forward to the mind-blowing stage visuals and effects that have become a hallmark of their shows.
We caught up with Ian Hill, Judas Priest’s bassist and the longest-standing original member, to talk about the tour.
Ian shared how the band stays fresh even after five decades of making music: “We’ve always tried to move forward, keep things fresh, and connect with younger audiences. Each album and tour is a step in the right direction, and this one’s no different.” Check out the full interview with Ian Hill below.
As if the tour wasn’t exciting enough, Judas Priest is celebrating the upcoming remixed and remastered version of their debut album, Rocka Rolla (1974). The album will be available digitally on September 13th, with a CD and vinyl release coming in November. If you're a die-hard fan or just discovering the magic of early Judas Priest, this remaster is a must-listen. The re-release will include the bonus track "Diamonds and Rust," their iconic cover of the Joan Baez classic.
Hill shared his excitement about the remaster: "It deserves to be remixed and remastered. The difference between the original and this version is like chalk and cheese. We put a lot of care into making it sound better than ever.”
