The City of Dubuque Parks and Recreation Commission is inviting the public to submit name ideas for a brand-new park coming soon to the South Pointe neighborhood. The park, being developed by South Pointe, L.L.C., will include fun features like playground equipment, swings, a picnic table, a bench, and even a bike rack, making it a perfect spot for families and neighbors to enjoy.

Construction is expected to wrap up this fall, but first, the park needs a name. That’s where you come in.

The City’s Park & Recreation Facility Naming Policy offers a few guidelines. Names can highlight historic people, places, or events; recognize individuals or groups who’ve made a big impact on the city or its parks; honor major donors; or reflect the park’s geographic location (like a nearby street or neighborhood).

To submit a name, you’ll need to provide the proposed name and your reason for choosing it. You can also add extras like community letters, petitions, or anything else that supports your idea.

Submissions will be reviewed by Parks and Recreation Director Marie Ware, then passed along to the Parks Commission for ranking. The top picks will be recommended to the City Council for final approval.
