Last year was the tenth anniversary of the University of Dubuque Heritage Center. Incredible illusions from Bill Blagg, Brazilian brothers making beautiful music, and The Wizard of Oz were just some of the fun events we saw take the stage.

With the eleventh season coming very soon, the Heritage Center looks to be bringing the laughs early and often with the announcement of two great shows.

Group tickets are now on sale for two shows that will be part of the Heritage Center's eleventh season: Branson Country Christmas (with a Special Tribute to Veterans) featuring The Ozark Jubilee and Away in the Basement: A Church Basement Ladies Christmas. Both shows will be coming to Dubuque just in time for the holiday season.

With that, the Heritage Center is offering patrons the chance to purchase a block of 20 tickets or more for both shows. Here's what both shows have in store for you and the community!

Away in the Basement: A Church Basement Ladies Christmas - Tuesday Dec. 5th at 2pm:

The charming and funny ladies who run the kitchen at a Lutheran church in Minnesota are back with a musical comedy providing a sweetly nostalgic look at holiday traditions and life in rural America. Out of the basement shall come a Church Basement program of good tidings, great humor, and joy, per a press release.

The ladies are serving it up again, taking audiences back to 1959 and the day of the Sunday School Christmas Program. In the midst of the holiday preparations and sprinklings of love in the air, the ladies in their witty, down-to-earth style are creating their own memories from Christmases past and present.

Content to do things the way they have always been done yet pondering new ideas, the reality of everyday life hits home as they plan the Sunday School Christmas Program. As the children rehearse up in the sanctuary, several of the ladies of the kitchen are finishing up the treat bags filled with apples, peanuts, and ribbon candy while others put the final touches on the nativity pieces. As they mend old bathrobe costumes and discuss the politics of who’s going to play the various roles, little do the ladies know what surprises are in store for them. Known for their hilarious antics and subtle charm, they are once again called upon to step in and save the day.

The show is inspired by the books of author/humorists Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson. The performance is produced by Troupe America.

Individual ticket sales for these shows will go on sale Tuesday, August 1st, 2023, but the opportunity to purchase group reservations of 20 or more seats are currently being accepted for both! If you're interested, head to the Heritage Center's website and click on "Purchase Tickets" and then select "Group Event Sales."

The University of Dubuque Heritage Center is located at 2000 University Avenue in Dubuque.
