Kennedy Mall Reveals New Sports Store is Opening Soon

Dubuque's premier shopping destination is getting a new sports store in late January.

Per Kennedy Mall's official Facebook page, the mall announced a new store called Spartans will be opening in a matter of weeks. The store will sell official sports memorabilia, clothing, and collectibles from the MLB, NFL, and NBA.

About Spartans in Dubuque:

Spartans will be located across from Kay Jewelers in the mall's Center Court, per Telegraph Herald. Furthermore, Spartans will also cell sports picture frames, cell phone accessories, and blankets to go along with the plethora of collectible gear it will house.

The shop is owned by Abdul Malik, whose family owns several similarly conceived stores in Iowa and Wisconsin. He owns a shop in Davenport, which handles jewelry repair. Malik said his customers in Davenport were part of the impetus behind expanding to the Dubuque region:

At Christmastime, on a regular basis, we get customers coming from the Dubuque area. They always say, 'Why don't you open a sports store over there?' - Abdul Malik, per Telegraph Herald

Malik had a positive experience opening a test location in Kennedy Mall for five months back in 2024. He called it "a good experience." He added that Spartans has a three-year contract in the mall.
