Dubuque Chef to Represent Iowa on “TODAY” Show

The owner and chef of an acclaimed restaurant in Dubuque will be making (another) appearance on TV and showcasing his talents to the world just in time for the holiday season.

Chef Kevin Scharpf, owner of Dubuque's Brazen Open Kitchen + Bar and Otto's Place in Galena, IL, will be representing the state of Iowa on the TODAY show's "Great American Holiday Cookie Swap!" Scharpf took to Instagram to announce his upcoming appearance:

Scharpf has been incredibly successful, with an appearance on Bravo TV's Top Chef under his belt. This year, he was named a semifinalist for "Best Chef: Midwest" from the James Beard Foundation Awards. He also recently acquired another restaurant in his hometown: Otto's Place, located at 100 Bouthillier Street in Galena.

His goal of putting Iowa on the map as a home of unique culinary creations looks to be succeeding.

What will Chef Scharpf Make on the Show?:

According to his Instagram video, Scharpf is looking to show his recipe for "Scotch-a-Rookies:"

I'll be representing the state of Iowa with my scotch-a-rookie, a fun play on a scotcharoo and a cookie.

Between purchasing a new restaurant in his hometown, and now being a guest on the TODAY show, Scharpf has had a banner year to say the very least.
