Nothing says Fall like a trip to the pumpkin patch to find that perfect pumpkin. Sonny Acres Farm, located just west of Chicago, was recently recognized as the best place in Illinois for pumpkin picking. Reader’s Digest released a list of the top pumpkin patches across the country, and there are plenty of reasons why Sonny Acres earned the top spot.

They have haunted hayrides and a haunted barn, along with a giant  Fall Festival which runs from September 20 through October 30, 2025. Families of all ages can “fall” in love with the non-stop activities, food, and entertainment.

There are so many photo opportunities, not only during the festival, but throughout the farm, that you will have so many Instagram options to upload to your social media account. It's an endless day of fun with pumpkins, hayrides, petting zoos, and rides. Admission is pretty reasonable, too; wristbands are only $25 and include access to all the fun.
