Liam Neeson to Star in ‘The Commuter,’ His Fourth Film With Director Jaume Collet-Serra
Liam Neeson is to director Jaume Collet-Serra what Leonardo DiCaprio is to Martin Scorsese. Neeson has become the action-dad-icon muse for Collet-Serra, who has just cast the leading man in yet another action film. The Commuter marks the fourth collaboration between Neeson and Collet-Serra, following Unknown, Non-Stop and Run All Night — all of which form a sort of informal trilogy of films in which Neeson plays a man burdened by his past who battles criminal elements while rocking a seriously sweet leather jacket.
‘Star Wars: Episode 9’ Director Colin Trevorrow Will Shoot on Film, Not Digital
In the ongoing battle between film and digital (Film v Digital: Dawn of Justice), there’s one man who will not capitulate to your contemporary technology. Joining the likes of Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder, Colin Trevorrow will also remain committed to shooting on film, as the director says he will shoot Star Wars: Episode IX on the classic format instead of digital.
New ‘Batman v Superman’ Images Feature Brooding-Man v Staring-Man, Plus Wonder Woman
Judging by images alone, you would think that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is actually just a clothing catalogue for privileged vigilantes and alien superheroes. There’s so much pensive staring and gloomy brooding and handsome, chiseled faces in nice jackets and expensive button-ups. All that’s missing is a caption with a price tag and one-click ordering.
‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Casts Kim Basinger as Christian Grey’s Former Lover
In Fifty Shades of Grey, Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey alludes to his former lover / sex buddy Elena Lincoln, who basically serves as his very own Mrs. Robinson — the two had an affair when Christian was just 15 years old, as if his whole situation couldn’t get any more skeevy. Today comes news that Universal has found its Ms. Lincoln in Kim Basinger, a fitting choice for the role of the seductive, experienced and confident character who will throw a wrench in Christian’s relationship with Ana.
‘Kubo and the Two Strings’ Trailer: Laika Presents a Gorgeous, Stop-Motion Epic
The studio behind beautiful stop-motion animated films like ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls is back this year with Kubo and the Two Strings, their most epic and gorgeous endeavor yet. As evidenced by the latest trailer, Laika's latest project is going big — really big — with a sweeping adventure set in a fantasy version of Japan, and a charming voice cast that evokes similar casting in the English-language versions of Studio Ghibli films. But what really makes this trailer sing is the artful use of The Beatles' melancholic "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."
Nickelodeon Taps ‘Napoleon Dynamite’ Team for ‘NickToons’ Animated Movie
Last year Nickelodeon announced plans to revive several of our favorite ’90s shows, starting with a special block of programming called “The Splat.” But that’s not all the network has been cooking up for nostalgic fans — they’ve also been developing a new film that will bring many of our favorite ’90s cartoon characters together on the big screen for one big, animated adventure, and the company has found the right creative team to tackle the ambitious project.
Tom Cruise Met With Jerry Bruckheimer About ‘Top Gun 2,’ And There’s a Photo to Prove It
We’ve heard about Top Gun 2 for several years now, but with the passing of original director Tony Scott and Tom Cruise’s consistently busy schedule, it’s hard to believe that it might actually happen. We may be closer to that long-developing sequel than ever before, as Cruise has met with producer Jerry Bruckheimer about Top Gun 2, and there’s photographic evidence to prove it.
‘The Chickening’ Is a Bonkers Remix of ‘The Shining’ That Will Melt Your Brain
The Chickening played the festival circuit over the past year, totally blowing the minds of audiences at Sundance, Fantastic Fest and more with its completely bonkers and inventive “remix” of footage from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Integrating chicken costumes, silly hats and faces, and the best possible manipulation of Shelley Duvall’s eyeballs you’re likely to see in your lifetime, The Chickening is an ode to insanity that you need to watch immediately.
‘Little House on the Prairie’ Movie From ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ Director Moves to Paramount
It's been over a year since we've gotten an update on the new Little House on the Prairie movie. Last we heard, David Gordon Green had exited the project and was replaced by Martha Marcy May Marlene director and indie favorite Sean Durkin. And...that's it. All's been quiet on the prairie since then. Today brings news that Little House on the Prairie has moved over to Paramount, which means the project may be closer to actually happening.
‘Finding Dory’ Teaser Spots Something Familiar
A new international teaser for Pixar’s Finding Dory has arrived online, and though it does not really offer any new footage from the long-awaited Finding Nemo sequel, it does feature the endearingly clueless Dory stumbling upon something that looks quite familiar. The film hits theaters this summer, and while it’s not a new trailer, this teaser should hold you over until more footage properly arrives.
