With all eyes on the next entry in the DC Cinematic Universe, it’s hard to say who is under more pressure: Wonder Woman, the World War II-era superhero and savior of the modern world, or Wonder Woman, the first female-directed movie in the modern blockbuster era and a stab at social relevance for the beleaguered executives at Warner Bros. The first Wonder Woman trailer that debuted at Comic-Con hit all the right notes for an exciting and female-driven superhero movie; would additional trailers walk back that promise or deliver more of the same?

Thankfully, the second trailer for Wonder Woman is finally here and it promises a whole lot more of the same. From the early training sequences between Gal Gadot’s Diana and Robin Wright’s General Antiope, to that delicious end riff over the Wonder Woman logo, it would appear that Warner Bros. has finally found the proper mix of Zack Snyder’s house style and the desire for a more vibrant and relatable superhero. I’ll be the first to admit that Warner Bros. had me scratching my head when Gadot was cast; I’m not scratching my head anymore.

It’s also a point that was made during Comic-Con, but given that Wonder Woman shares a cinematic universe with movies like Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, you cannot say enough about the splashes of color we see in this trailer. The blue water that surrounds Themyscira; the green grass of the training fields; even the red and yellow of Wonder Woman’s final costume. While the setting may seem to ape elements of the Captain America: The First Avenger storyline, there’s a chance that Warner Bros. has finally put together a movie that feels completely new. I’m excited for what happens next.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Wonder Woman:

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, David Thewlis, and Danny Huston and will fly its invisible jet into theaters on June 2, 2017.
