Star Trek Beyond hasn’t even hit theaters yet, but there’s already talk of the next installment in the franchise — and if early reactions to Justin Lin’s new Trek sequel are to be believed, then we have every reason to be optimistic about the future of the series. But just in case you needed one more, J.J. Abrams has revealed his “incredibly exciting” idea for Star Trek 4, which will reportedly bring Chris Hemsworth back to the franchise to team up with Chris Pine.

As you’ll recall, Hemsworth appeared in the opening sequence of Abrams’ first Trek film, in which he played George Kirk, the father of Pine’s James T. Kirk. You also probably remember that he died in the first few minutes of that movie, which makes today’s news extra surprising. During a press conference for Star Trek Beyond, Abrams teased imminent news about their plans for the next sequel (via Collider):

Yes, and there’s something that hopefully we’re figuratively minutes away from talking about. The answer is 100% yes, and it’s incredibly exciting.

Not long after, Abrams revealed his idea to journalist Scott Mantz:

Clearly, there’s going to be some crazy timeline-hopping / time travel to make this happen, but the idea of the two Kirks coming together for a new Trek adventure seems kinda great — however it happens.

I just have one question: Would it be entirely unreasonable for Abrams to get Chris Evans on board and turn this thing into a trifecta of handsome franchise stars named Chris? Just asking.

Star Trek Beyond hits theaters on July 22.
